Someone who loves what he does, that's for sure

He began studying piano technology with Don McKechnie, RPT, and Michelle Stranges, RPT the second semester of his freshman year as an apprentice, his unofficial minor. He has experience in piano tuning, repair, regulation, and rebuilding since 2012.

Professional Experience

After Graduating from Ithaca College, Kestrel worked at Freehold Music Center as a piano technician on staff from June, 2015 to March 2017. In November of 2015 he joined the Piano Technicians Guild and shortly after in July of 2016 he passed his certification exams and was reclassified as a Registered Piano Technician. He retired his membership and left the PTG in 2021. He owns Curro Piano Service, LLC and is associated with Freehold Music Center and Pianos of Princeton. He was a Tuner/Technician at Lindeblad Piano Restoration, LLC in 2018 where he gained experience in full piano rebuilding. He held the position of Staff Piano Technician at the Settlement School of Music in Philadelphia, PA where he maintained their inventory of 168 pianos and 3 harpsichords until the school decided to go virtual in September of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently provides top quality in-home piano service, institutional piano maintenance, and concert services for venues.

Personal Info

Kestrel loves to play the music of Frederic Chopin. Some of his favorite pieces are Mazurka #1 in F# minor, Fantaisie-Impromptu in C# minor and the "Minute" Waltz. He enjoys tuning into nature and spending time with his cats, Spinet, Mason and Hamlin, and his dogs, Freddie and Bonkers.

I was asked to join Piano Technician Radio Hour on April 16, 2022 to talk about my experiences as a piano technician, my miniature pianos, and my popular monthly newsletters. Enjoy!
